Johanne Eliacin

Dr. Eliacin is a research scientist and core investigator at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center. She is also a research assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis and research scientist at the Regenstrief Institute.  Dr. Eliacin is a health services researcher. Her primary areas of research interest are mental health and healthcare disparities. She has been involved in several VA, SAMSHA, and NIH-funded studies that examine the development and implementation of interventions for people with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. Currently, her research focuses on reducing mental healthcare disparities by developing and implementing effective strategies to improve patient-provider communication, and by advancing our understanding of sociocultural determinants of mental health and illness. Dr. Eliacin is a licensed clinical psychologist and a psychological anthropologist. She completed a joint Ph.D. degree in psychological and clinical psychology from the Department of Comparative Human Development at the University of Chicago.
